Stencils Unlimited manufactures surface mount carriers (also known as SMT carriers) in our state-of-the -art facility in Tualatin, Oregon. Our regular surface mount carriers are made out of Durostone® or Ricocel. However, depending on the application we may use high Tg FR4 or even stainless steel to reduce manufacturing cost and lead time. This type of SMT fixtures are only recommended when building a few prototype printed circuit boards.

Surface mount carriers are very versatile, they can be used to support, protect and transport PCBs of different shapes and sizes including flex PCBs through the entire SMT process.

Stencils Unlimited manufactures wave solder pallets in our state-of-the-art facility in Tualatin, Oregon. Our wave solder pallets are made with heavy-duty (Electro-Static Discharge) ESD composite materials such as Durostone® and Ricocel. These materials exhibit good machinability and are able to withstand the high temperatures and the chemicals associated with soldering applications.

Wave solder pallets are used during the wave soldering process to mask areas of the printed circuit boards that require thermal or solder protection. These areas usually contain SMT components, ground planes, connectors, gold fingers and/or mounting holes. Wave solder pallets are fabricated by removing material from areas of the pallets where the PCB is to be exposed to the wave, areas where solder is required.

Selective Soldering is a process of selectively soldering through-hole components to a printed circuit board using a selective soldering machine. Unlike a wave solder machine, a selective solder machine has a miniature wave that can be programmed to solder one through-hole component at the time.

Depending on the job, sometimes it is necessary to use a selective solder fixture (also known as a selective wave solder pallet) to provide support and improve the overall process.

  • Process multiple individual boards at the same time (e.g. small boards that should have been panelized).
